Hakima House
Hakima is the house of the owls. “Hakima” means ”wisdom” in Arabic. Owls make wise choices and always begin new adventures with their end goals in mind!
The Story of Hakima
Once there was a little owlet whose wings was so small she couldn’t fly yet. Each day, she saw all her friends leaping off branches, dipping in the air just a bit, then catching the air under their wings, and taking flight. Owl felt sad and frustrated as she watched her friends’ success. She felt hopeless.
Owl’s wise father came to her one day and said, “Why are you so unhappy?”
“It’s just hopeless!” Owl cried. “I will NEVER learn how to fly!”
“My child, you will fly. You were born to fly. Be patient and give yourself time.”
Then, Owl’s father brought her to a small pine tree. He placed her on the smallest branch and told her to flap her wings as fast as she could. She listened to her father but fell to the ground.
“See?!” Owl said. “I told you I will never learn to fly!”
Owl’s father again repeated, ”You will fly. You were born to fly. Be patient and give yourself time.”
Each day, Owl and her father went back to that same pine tree and did the same exercises. Gradually, Owl’s wings got stronger and she was able to hold herself in the air for longer periods of time. One day, Owl went out onto the tallest branch of the oak tree where her family lived. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and sprang off the branch. Owl flapped her wings as hard as she could and took off. She was finally flying! Owl soared and glided through the air and felt so proud of herself. She learned from her wise father that to be successful she needed to keep trying and not give up, even when facing a challenge.
