Junbi is the house of the bears. “Junbi” means ”preparation” in Korean. Bears are ready for every challenge they face and prepare ahead of time!

The Story of Junbi

One warm summer afternoon, Rabbit was bounding through the forest. He wanted to play! Rabbit came to his friend Bear. He said, “Bear! Come play with me on this beautiful day!” Bear replied, “No, Rabbit. I am getting ready for winter.” Rabbit shook his head and hopped away.

A few weeks later, the leaves had started to turn red, yellow, and orange. Rabbit wanted to make a pile of leaves to jump into! He went to find his friend Bear. “Bear!” said Rabbit. “Come make a pile of leaves with me! It will be fun to jump in!” Bear replied, “No, Rabbit. I am getting ready for winter and you should too.”

Rabbit rolled his eyes and hopped away. Not long after, the snow fell from the sky and Rabbit was cold. He had a very hard time finding food. Rabbit went to Bear and said, “You were right, my friend. I should have prepared for winter. Now I am cold and hungry.” Bear said to his friend, “Rabbit, I stored lots of carrots in my cave for you because I knew you would not be ready for winter. Next year, make sure you prepare so you can be ready too.” The two friends spent the long, cold winter cozy and fed in Bear’s warm cave because Bear had been so well-prepared for winter.
