Muungano House
Muungano is the house of the wolf pack. “Muungano” means ”togetherness” in Swahili. The wolf pack sticks together and looks out for each other so everyone can be successful!
The Story of Muungano
One day, Wolf was playing tag with Raccoon and Fox. The three friends were having a great time together. Tortoise saw them playing and wanted to join in. He asked, “Can I play too?” Raccoon and Fox looked at each other and burst out laughing. “YOU want to play TAG with us?!” Raccoon snorted. “You are too slow and weak to play with us, Tortoise,” said Fox. Tortoise hung his head and started to walk away.
“No!” shouted Wolf. “Of course you can play, Tortoise. There is always room for one more.”
“But he is so slow,” protested Raccoon.
“He will never be able to keep up!” said Fox.
“Then maybe we can play something else if that’s what we decide we want to do. Tortoise is great at playing cards!” Wolf said. “There is always room for one more. No one should be left out.”
The new friends played happily together for the rest of the afternoon because Wolf knew how important it is to not leave anyone out.
