Oh hi! 👋

My name is Amy Duncan I am DELIGHTED to be Crestview Elementary's Art Teacher.

Purpose statement:  My purpose is to teach my students how to think, grow, and use their ideas to create artwork.
In my class, we will learn how to ask the right questions and how to problem-solve until we make something beautiful.  We will learn the fundamentals of art and we will have lots of fun!

 Crestview/Teaching Experience:  This will be my EIGHTH year teaching art at Crestview Elementary.  (Whaaat?!) 

 Education & Teaching Philosophy:  My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in drawing from Austin Peay State University.  I also have a Master's degree of Art in Teaching from Austin Peay.  I am so thankful I got to experience four years of art school honing my craft and skill as an artist before I had the opportunity to teach.  I think it is important for teachers to ADORE their content in order to teach effectively.  Art has allowed me to communicate my ideas, emotions, and dreams.  I hope to share my passion for art with my students so they can express themselves in a meaningful way.

This year, Crestview has created a Cultural Competency & Community Outreach committee.

Mission Statement:
The Cultural Competency and Community Outreach committee exists to contribute to a sustainable school culture built on love, respect, and empathy. We hope to better ourselves by seeking out ways to teach well-rounded, culturally competent curriculum. We also desire to respect and represent the diverse cultures of our students, while encouraging exploration of other cultures outside of our own. Our ultimate goal is to build a relationship with our community in a meaningful and supportive way.
